Job Description: Grant Evaluator

Position Title: Grant Evaluator
Reports To: Executive Director / Project Director
FLSA Status: Exempt / Contracted


Position Summary

The Grant Evaluator is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the evaluation plan for federal grants. This role ensures that all program objectives, deliverables, and outcomes are accurately measured and reported in compliance with grant requirements. The Grant Evaluator provides data-driven insights to guide decision-making, ensure accountability, and support continuous improvement of grant-funded initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Evaluation Planning & Design

  • Develop comprehensive evaluation frameworks aligned with grant goals and objectives.

  • Establish measurable outcomes, performance indicators, and data collection methods.

  • Ensure evaluation plans meet federal, state, and compliance requirements.

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data from multiple stakeholders, including schools, staff, and community partners.

  • Conduct surveys, interviews, focus groups, and site visits as needed.

  • Use statistical and analytical methods to evaluate program effectiveness, efficiency, and impact.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare timely evaluation reports for leadership, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure accuracy and transparency in data reporting.

  • Document progress toward grant objectives and provide recommendations for program improvement.

Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Work closely with project directors, program staff, and fiscal teams to align evaluation with program operations.

  • Provide technical assistance and training to staff on data collection and reporting procedures.

  • Communicate evaluation findings in clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Doctorate degree in Education, with an emphasis on Evaluation, Research, and Statistics.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in program evaluation with education and federal grants.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of evaluation methodologies (formative, summative, qualitative, quantitative).

  • Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, SAS, R, Excel, or equivalent).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of federal grant compliance and reporting requirements.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to ethical standards in research and evaluation.


Working Conditions

  • Primarily home-office based with some travel to project sites.

  • May include occasional evening or weekend work to meet grant reporting deadlines.
