Marti Pittman

Marti Pittman has a bachelor's degree from MSSU and a Master of Science in Education from PSU.  Marti was a junior high teacher in Webb City for 29 years teaching social studies, communication arts and reading.  Marti participated in Jefferson City in the development of the Grade Level expectations for social studies, grades 5-8.  In 1989 Marti was Social Studies Teacher of the Year for the Missouri Council for the Social Studies and 2004 runner-up for the Gilder Lehrman Missouri Teacher of the Year Award.  Marti is a resource specialist for the Teaching American History grants and is a member of the Webb City Public Library Foundation, member of the Historic Commission for the city of Webb City and educational consultant at the Powers Museum in Carthage.  Marti has completed 218 oral histories for the Veterans History Project for the Library of Congress.
