Online classes now available

Southwest Center is  now offering some online classes for your professional development needs!  There are two program selections in our catalog--Professional Development Programs Offered On Site and Professional Development Classes Online. The classes are listed in our online catalog under Professional Development Online Classes program.  The offerings are explained below.  In order to better accommodate our educators, we also now accept Visa and Mastercard.  That option will appear when the user enrolls in the class on our website or MyLearningPlan.

Brain Based Instruction
Description: Understanding how the brain processes information can be the key to
increasing learning, memory and retention. Drawing on decades of research, Dr.
Marcus Conyers and Dr. Donna Wilson show you how to create brain-based
lesson plans and classroom activities. Learn how to "chunk" classroom
instruction and use modeling to increase comprehension. Watch as Dr Wilson
teaches real students how to successfully use a systemic search approach.

Charting a Course to Literacy Excellence
Description: Developed in cooperation with the Ohio Principals Literacy Network, this
program provides teachers with a collection of practical techniques to help
students develop reading and writing skills. Observe powerful classroom
lessons that utilize shared reading,reading aloud, and guided reading strategies.
Learn how to make vocabulary acquisition meaningful and lasting. The second
section of the program includes a powerful presentation from best selling author
