Half-Time Regional MAP Instructional Facilitator—Mathematics and/or
Science
The MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) Regional Instructional
Facilitator will work at Southwest Center for Educational
Excellence (SCEE), Webb City, Missouri, as part of the SRPDC
regional team and the Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education to support school districts in the region/state to insure
high academic achievement for all students. The facilitator’s
primary responsibility is planning, managing, implementing, and
evaluating the full implementation of MAP activities and projects
in the region. The specialist will report directly to the Director
of the SRPDC.
Overview
The MAP Regional Instructional facilitator (RIF)—Mathematics
and/or Science will support schools by providing expertise in
curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development.
The RIF will provide centralized and on-site training and
professional development for teachers and administrators in
cooperation with DESE’s Assessment section, the SRPDC and the
districts. The RIF will also provide follow-up, coaching and
mentoring at the building level. The RIF will support the
involvement of principals and other administrators in MAP and work
collaboratively with the regional SRPDC team and the Southwest
Center Math/Science staff to support teachers’ and administrators’
professional development in order to increase student
achievement.
Duration of this position:
Continuation is reviewed on an annual basis and depends on
continued funding and annual performance evaluations. The position
could become full-time after year one if warranted.
Responsibilities
Through professional development activities and on-site
consultation, the RIF will build the capacity of school districts
by
• Working cooperatively and collaboratively with the SRPDC and SCEE
staffs, DESE, and other RIFs to serve educators in the region;
• Meeting regularly with the SRPDC director, SCEE Director, MSSU
Dean of Education and others for support and guidance as
needed;
• Preparing and submitting data, documentation, and written
reports, including mid-year and final reports, weekly/monthly
calendars and documentation of work, as requested;
• Participating in MAP item development and scoring activities;
• Planning, scheduling, and conducting regional meetings to update
educators as needed;
• Attending all RIF, RPDC, and other required state meetings;
• Offering specialized training for district teachers and
administrators;
• Conducting quality assurance visits throughout the region to
support district implementation and security of MAP
administration;
• Facilitating/providing on-site training and professional
development for teachers and administrators in districts in
cooperation with the districts’ curriculum and PD directors;
• Facilitating/providing follow-up instruction, support and
mentoring at the building level;
• Providing content expertise in the grade level expectations (GLE)
and the statewide curriculum and its implications for classroom
instruction as needed;
• Providing ongoing support and technical assistance to schools in
the region;
• Working with school administrators to collect, record, and share
all data for MAP activities with the state;
• Working with districts to access and interpret data;
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
• Specialist or Ph.D. Degree in Education;
• School leadership experience (principal, central office
administrator, teacher leader);
• Successful experience working with diverse student and staff
populations;
• Experience as MAP senior leader, district assessment director,
and/or content specialist;
• Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment,
including the GLEs, common assessments, and professional learning
communities;
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Education or closely related field;
• Five years of successful teaching experience in mathematics
and/or science;
• Excellent presentation skills and experience teaching adults;
• Documented experience with using assessment data to inform
decision making and drive instructional practice;
• Experience communicating results of assessment data to all
stakeholders including staff, students, parents, and community
members;
• Demonstrated expertise in teamwork, coaching, and/or
mentoring
• Successful experience organizing and providing professional
development;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and express ideas
effectively, orally and in writing;
• Ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships
with department staff, local school district personnel, university
staff and RPDC personnel;
• Willingness to travel, including overnight, within Missouri and
occasionally out of state;
• Ability to use technology for word processing, recordkeeping, and
presentations.
